I have been working on this for a while now and just cant get the wing transparent enough without losing to much detail and colour.. any tips/hints or help with this would be much appreciated

A more colourful background might help, then you could use the background colours to create the illusion of transparency.

    Re: Fae Wip

very nicely done. lips and face are done well and I love the old fashioned masquerade mask. unfortunately, I don't think there's enough shadow mixed into the mask or the hair to really make the elements stand out and show form. the mask itself is a little too flat to me. though I see the hint of shape to it I think it needs some deep shadows mixed in to really bring out the form and shapes within the mask. when it comes to the hair I also find it's lacking form and shape but more because there's a lack of depth to the hair again most likely because of a lack of shadows.

very nice though and I really like where this is going. Smile

Good stuff. Try different layers with different blending modes ofr the transparent effect. ALso I think the eyes are too far apart. its comming alon nicely.

I think she looks a little cross eyed now. I also think her neck is off so it doesn't connect to her head correctly.

I think you would see far more of the neck muscles from that angle. I think you might possibly see the far shoulder as well. Something like this...

    Re: Fae Wip

I love the feel of this painting so much, it's really coming along.

I'm afraid the eyes stillll look crosseyed though. Also I'm not sure of the angle on her left (hers not ours) wing, if it's coming out of her back it's not angles enough and is too flat.

This is looking really beautiful Wendy, can't help but agree about the eyes tho.

Think it has to be down to the mask limiting the view of the eyes and the highlights on the irises are on opposite sides.

    Re: Fae Wip

Looks better but still think the eye holes of the mask obscure too much of the eyes to be comfortably worn or looked at.
