Re: White Horse - Pierangelo Boog

You have a lovely style Pier. And this is another example of that. But when I look at the horse, it seems like it's head is wrong. It's left ear seems to be on the forehead instead of on the side. Making it look like the head and neck is not correctly connected. Other than that its beautiful. it has that beautiful classic illustration look, and that tree is fantastic. Not to keen on the woman, but thats a matter of tasteStick out tongue

I agree with everyone in that you've got a lovely style going on there and lots of beautifully done details. I also like the subtle variations in the clouds that help bring your eye back into the picture. My only gripe is the canyon/landscape area at the bottom right corner. It doesn't look distant enough, in fact if I squint to get rid of the details all the lower area just looks like a bit of flat ground that cuts straight across the picture. Perhaps if you just changed the hue a bit to make it cooler then it would separate it from the foreground on the left and give more depth to what is already a good picture.

I see a combination of Frazetta and Vallejo. With your own style added. The woman is a great example of that. She reminds me alot of a Frazetta shaped woman, yet the rendering and accessories have the Vallejo look. Love it.

That lower right corner of the valley does seem a little close.

Re: White Horse - Pierangelo Boog

Thanks to you all, AReily, Evil, Valence and Geir!

Well, I have startet painting it after I have found in my maps a old of my pencil sketch from a unfinished horse. (25 yeras ago...)

I have recovered it and think; this horse has power, he lives. And now I have more knowledges of anatmie since this passing days.

But,  if you not have a horse range and life in modern times full of cars (in the time of old masters they must go just out of the house

to find hundreds of horses in the streets...), its harder to draw horses- I have recherche a lot of referenzed, from Velazquez and many others.

The ear, Geir, can moving like the hand of a human person. In the moment I dont see the ear problem clear. And if you paint with your nose on the

paintground, you know it, you can loosing isely out of the eyes some things why you dont have the right distanc to your own work. But anyway, I let the

original so as it is. The old masters has cals some mistakes like mine "Pentimentos". If this painting ever comes printing in a artbook of mine I make the

corectures in photoshop, like the landscape as a other window in the window more colder in colors and unsharper. But your critics has help my mutch

for my next works in future. So thanks again to al again, special for your coments Geir, I always read your coments in this forum with great interesting!

Valejo I dont like mutch. Frazetta yes (and a lot more of the golden age illustrators!). I enjoy this forum mutch, the difrent peoples and their difrents works/stiles.

The woman on my painting, Geir, was my english teacher, believe me!Devil

I thought of Frazetta too. Even though it still a strong Pierangelo-style.
