    Charles bernard a little slow

is it just my computer or do the charles bernard videos seem to slow down so that his voice is a little deeper and slower than it should be?? (and the length of the video increased)

that coupled with his slow teaching method makes for an enthralling art class

dont get me wrong, keep em coming

I don't think I've ever tried the videos. though I've heard the Bernard ones are just slow themselves. Stick out tongue

oh i agree mungo, something similar was said in another thread, and there i commented that i can't watch them, they are so mindnumbing, i would go so far as to say if i ever have to watch one again, i might die, it's that bad! Poor bloke, imagine being in one of his lectures!

    I agree with kazky.

He seems a skilled artist who certainly knows his stuff but....

He changes his voice intonations at the oddest times and has irregularly scheduled pauses that make it difficult to listen to frequently.  And every other sentence is "If you haven't, then you should check out my video on <fill in whatever subject he was talking about>.  I think the videos could be about 35% shorter if he dropped all the constant plugs for his site and other videos.

yeah like the one on painting folds spent half the time (15 minutes!) telling you how important it is to paint folds, then the second half telling you that there are 7 types of folds, here is 1, now buy the rest from my mebsite.

sorry mate but not if i havent got a spare 12 hours to listen to 6 folding methods

so i was looking at the massive black dvd's yesterday, there seems some nice ones, but really expensive, i know there's been loads of threads asking if they are good, so i'm not asking that, I just want to know if anyone has learned anything worth $50 from any of them? I learned things from watching Marta's video's on IFX but as i'm not familiar with most of the massive black artists, i'm wondering if it's worth it?

see, the gnomon dvd's are basically the same price for us here in Canada as well. it's like $60 plus $26 minimum shipping. and in US funds. comes out to about $90 a DVD.

why the hell does it cost $26 to ship a DVD? it's one of the main reasons I don't try to get them. $90 is a lot to pay for a tutorial DVD.

Half of that is protection money paid to the Octopus.

you may be right. maybe that's why my magazine's been late a couple times. octopus hasn't gotten his protection money.

lol by the sounds of it I don't think anyones used one Kaz. Stick out tongue

although I'd pay up to $50 (including shipping if I had to pay shipping) for a good tutorial DVD.

I was thinking of downloading the Gnomon Jeremy Vickery Practical light and colour tutorial. That way you avoid postage and customs, but $49 is still expensive and you only have 48 hours to download it.

Have any of you have tried that and know what the download times are like?

yeah i was thinking of that one too nimh, $49 is near enough £49 now though & i'm not sure they warrant that much.

Re: Charles bernard a little slow

Not if you were thinking of getting more than one. (I'll probably wait til the exchange rate is better). At least the download is zipped so you can back it up onto disc in case of ....gremlins in the machine.
