The Newborn Contest!!! (Now with more prizes!)

ConceptArt.Org is proud to announce our latest contest: Newborn! Let’s get started!

Each moment we sit down at our tablets, we have an opportunity to create a beautiful work of art. We can reach for beauty, depth of idea, technical mastery or even personal satisfaction. We can create in hopes of being discovered. We can focus on found inspiration or a simple desire for prizes and loot. We can draw and paint because we understand the importance of promoting ourselves with work of our own vision. We can make art to hone our abilities for the career road ahead. But, the question is not why we create…it is what will we create? What will you create?

As artists, we all have opportunity to bring something into the world from the deepest places in imagination. You have the ability to bring vision to life with your talent. What will you bring to this world? Will you bring something that entertains? Will you bring something that changes minds? I think he may be referring to part 11 of the grand prize.

[edit] make that part 10 too.

yeah i saw that, but he said considering the prizes why are we being overlooked, i took it to mean that we weren't included in something or other?

    Re: Newborn Contest

I think Banj is right. You'd think that a competition that involves the cover of IFX would be advertised to those of us who are a part of the IFX forum.

especially since we've been asking for or talking about that possibility for ages. Wink

    Re: Newborn Contest

ohhhhh right, i bet that's what he meant, that it wasn't advertised here, i think it was on twitter & i'm not 100% sure but is it on the front page in the IFX news updates? may well be wrong there as i just know i've seen it.

I thought he might mean that we were excluded for some reason, remember recently koshime told us about a comp & we were going to join in, then he found out we couldn't, but he couldn't tell us the reason?

    Re: Newborn Contest

lol. so he waved the candy in front of your face and then walked away without giving you any. Stick out tongue

yah, even if it's on the main page here, how many people do see it. I know I'm linked straight to the forums. I rarely see the main page of the site unless I'm looking at it from work. still, probably would have been nice to have an announcement in the forums here.

    Re: Newborn Contest

even if it's not an official IFX challenge, it's gotta be sponsored by them with those two prizes there. so it should have been put in the Official challenge thread for us. Sad

of course, knowing me I wouldn't have entered, but I know there's a lot of people here who would have and most likely still will.

    Re: Newborn Contest

yeah when you put it that way you're right, i guess it should have been advertised in the challenge thingy, they usually do, maybe creating issue 47 is more time consuming than usual Smile

This was exactly my point, feel a bit short changed.

Yeah, if this is a bonafide announcement then the competition's been on for a month already.

There was nothing in ImagineNation News IFX 43 or 44 (May/June issues respectively) about it.

IFX 44 had an article on the Digital Artist 2009 competition and the update section of the website featured the twitter subscription competition on 4th June.

It's a ConceptArt competition but the prize makes it relevant to punters who buy this magazine. What's the point of a digital arts news section that doesn't inform the readership of what's going on?

If there has been a mention by the management and I've missed it then my apologies.

If this is genuine and it's the case that forumites have to inform each other of competitions that have a significant IFX related prize, that is extremely poor form.

i think we're disgruntled! It is unusual i have to say though, we're usually informed about these things aren't we?

    Re: Newborn Contest

um hello there was a post on IFX about it. I know coz I made it. but yeah I see your point about it not being in the mag. I blame kaz as her critique in this months issue took up valuble space in the mag that should have been used as advertisment lol but seriously most of the hardcore digital artists use this site or concept art so someone would spread it and damage my chances of winning by entering a piece vastly superior to my work in every single way. not that im bitter
