Phoenicorn's quest to kick the witch's ass

Well I decided to start my own sketchbook here. I have go one on conceptart but never got round to creating one here. As the title suggests I want to be critiqued on every minor point. " />This Piece I created last night just as a mess around. It was based on an ad in one of my magazines. I tried the vector art style then I tried shading it. Thanks all

Starting your own sketch book is a fine idea Phoeni. One thing is for sure, if you keep up with the Collaberative Sketch Thread then regular updates are assured. It'll be really interesting to see how you progress over the year. I have to say, I'm looking forward to watching.

    Re: Slaughter Zone

You know what I'm gonna swallow my pride and say this project as above me at this point in time. I think I need to go back to studies. Recently I have been reading the where to start forum posts and I am sure the creators won't mind me nicking the lessons " />

    Re: Slaughter Zone

Hey, not a bad job on spotting the shading to create the form. But I would check your proportions, it looks like you've turned your head to the side to draw the side of it, rather than draw the whole thing face forward.

Also I tip is to periodically turn the picture upside down to spot mistakes in the proportions and symmetry. If you have a mirror close by (I now have a small mirror on my desk) reflect your drawing in the mirror and take a look, this can be done with all of your drawings. This is a good way to spot mistakes, and I use it everytime I can. For example I was drawing a skull last night and knew there was something wrong, but couldn't work it out, so I looked at it in the mirror and instantly saw it was too long vertically - it didn't turn out perfect but it was much better once I had seen the large mistake.

Good luck and practice make perfect, remember that!
