The only blog that guarantees to grant you super-human strength, washboard abs, and have you frothing at the mouth from power that only gods have known...

Whazzappennin?!?!

Man, these past three weeks have been incredibly busy! Here's a recap of what I've been up to:

My wife is finally home after having major surgery for appendicitis. She's doing great and almost  completely healed which is such a relief considering she was walking around with a ruptured  appendix for almost a week. The doctors said she was extremely lucky and from what I've heard, a  ruptured appendix can be bad situation if not taken care of immediately. How she got away with walking  around in her condition for almost a week is beyond me but it goes to show just how high my girl's  tolerance for pain is. I guess it comes naturally, especially if you have to put up with me everyday :)

It's been posted on CGTalk's Anatomy Forum for some time now but for those who haven't heard, Rebecca Kimmel  and I have put together a new site  at www.foundationalarts.com. The site is a  virtual studio  space and outlet for displaying more of our personal work. So far I've posted some older work along with a few  figure/portrait studies but I'll be posting WIP's and ongoing anatomy/figure drawing tutorials. There are no plans of making it into an open forum at the moment but it may become one later down the line.

I haven't the had the time to work on too much personal stuff apart from an occasional sketch here and  there but now that things are some what back to normal, I'll be posting some new work in the upcoming  weeks. I also have a handful of tutorials in the works for several apps including Photoshop, ZBrush,  and Painter. Some of these will be in video and pdf format and I will be posting links to them as they happen.

Apart from that, everything seems to be pretty chill at the mo. Just want to take this time to thank the community and ImagineFX for their continued support and would like to remind everyone if you have any questions or comments, I'm always around and willing to share my knowledge so feel free to hit me up any time! - J

About MechaHateChimp

My name is Joel Carlo and I am a multimedia developer residing out of Denver, Colorado. I work as both a graphic designer and freelance artist with a current devotion to motion graphics and web development. My professional career as an artist began in 1993 where I was hired to work as an illustrator for a now defunct entertainment group. In the short time I worked there, I helped develop concept designs and illustrations for print. Thereafter, I pursued work as a freelance designer which has afforded me the opportunity to develop my skill set as an artist in both traditional and digital media over the last several years. My educational background as an artist has largely been self-taught, although I have had two short stints as a student at both the Tampa Art Institute and Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. My client list is varied and ranges from commissioned work for small studio projects to larger commissions for clients such as Future Publishing, Burrows & Chapin, The Ayzenberg Group, NASCAR, Dodge, Toyota and Fox Television. I am currently looking for work as a concept designer or 3D artist in either the gaming or film industries. If you are an employer in need of either, please feel free to contact me with any inquiries regarding commission work and availabilty.
