random wierdness from the life of a comic book colorist

Insanity on the homefront

what a weekend.  Friday started with a couple of loose dogs that decided to try and fight their way through our fence in the backyard (and at one point almost LEAP OVER the 3 and a half foot high fence) to get to our 2 dogs that were outside.  Needless to say, it was a mad sprint to the back of the yard (well over a 100 ft from the sliding glass door off the back of the house) to corral our dogs-a huge feat for my wife because of her knee brace and bad knee she's still suffering from.  then back into the garage, then BACK to the back of the  yard with a baseball bat, then BACK to the garage where I promptly almost collapsed and thought I was having a heart attack as the chest siezed up on me and I couldn't breathe.  Likely it was more along the lines of an asthma attack I think, because after I inhaled from my sons inhaler I seemed to get a little better.  Lost a FEW hours worth of my work day there.

Saturday, spent the morning feeling a bit off, and taking care of my daughter who was feeling crummy, then my dad showed up for us to go finish wiring our basement.  After about 50 trips up and down the stairs out to the fuse box, and the majority of the day, we finally got everything hooked up (or rather he did as I'm not an electrician by any stretch of the imagination)  So now there is LIGHT in our laundry room again, which makes my wife incredibly happy. We've started the LAST coat of primer on the lower half of the walls (which will be red so they require a darker primer I guess) and then, time to move everything back in place until we can afford to paint the whole basement.

Sunday, spent the latter part of the morning and early afternoon, placing stones and mortar around the waterfall filter in our pond out back, then helped my father-in-law, my wife and my son, put in our brand new BRIDGE over the pond that my wife's dad just built for us.  Absolutely GORGEOUS work, once I get the falls running again, and some of our ornamental grasses come in more, I'll have to take some pics to put up here, it's rather nice looking :D  So, after that was done, SHORT nap, then dinner, then I headed into town to grab some more things from the home improvement store, come home and my wife was just getting ready to leave with my daughter for the EMERGENCY ROOM!  She had been feeling even worse on Sunday, and her fever had spiked up to 103.5, so the nurse said to take her in and have her looked at.  So at shortly after 10pm we ended up back home where it was time for some ice cream and then to bed.

All of that drama, you could probably fit into a WEEK or so, but of course it's always more fun to cram as much as you can into a couple of days :D  So this morning, it's back to work like a juggernaut, to get caught up with things here.  Hopefully this week will be far less eventful than the weekend was.  whew!!!!
