For months now I have been really thinking hard about starting a
comic strip of my own. I have been reading comics, web comics and daily
newspaper strips for ages and about same amount of time always thinking
of making my own.
Now I have decided to finaly do it! I have my
characters laid out and I also have kinda good premices and story idea
for a strip - actually I have three choises. But my problems are
following: should I do the strip in my native language (Finnish) or in
english for wider spread. 2nd problem here is that if I do it in
finnish the strip should (or would) concern things known to "my people"
and countrymen so everyone would understand things here in Finland.
What should I do? I can't make up my mind!

Personally I think you should go with the Finnish version, because there are so many comic strips in English, I mean yeah okay, a larger audience for it I guess...BUT is that what your hoping to get? If it is, and you want to one day try and break into the 'mainstream' comic industry then do an English version but if it's a peronal project, which is sounds like it is then do it in your home language!! To be honest, if the artwork is good it doesn't really matter about the language it's in. I know several people that buy Japanese comics in Japanese even though they can't read Japanese but they love the artwork. Plus you can get a rough idea from looking at most comic art as to what kind of things are occuring in the storyline if it's portrayed well, and clearly enough. :)

Finnish and then give it subtitles. No seriously always do what your gut tells you to do. Generally people will get it no matter the language because it's a comic and as they say a picture is worth a thousand words. (who or what this 'they' are is not known)
I've got loads of comics and graphic novels from Spain and France. My French is on a strictly survivalist level but I completely understand the graphic novels ( and it's improving my French).
That said I've bought some english language stuff just on the artwork. The written content has been dwarfed by the excellent art.
